Version 0.7.7
Opens in seconds when iCloud has offloaded your decks • Pasting into a text box no longer pastes twice • Pasted images survive deleting the card they came from
0.7.7 · macOS
Bug Fixes
- Slow launch on a Mac low on space (macOS): When macOS had moved your library’s files to iCloud to free up space, SuperCards could show a spinning cursor for many minutes at launch, and sometimes open to blank windows. The app now opens in seconds however much of your library is in iCloud only. Browsing the Library, Brain Dump, Card Controls and search no longer downloads your cards, and the app no longer downloads files again on its own after macOS offloads them
- Paste lands once (macOS): Pasting into a text box while you were typing in it put the text at the cursor and also added a second copy to the card as a new text box. Text now goes in once, at the cursor, whether you use ⌘V, Edit > Paste or right-click > Paste
- Pasted images keep loading (macOS): An image copied from one card to another stopped loading once you deleted the original card, and each later save could leave another copy of the image in the deck’s folder. The card you pasted into now keeps its own copy of the image
- Images stuck on “Loading…” (macOS): Going back to a card in the Card Editor could leave one of its images on “Loading…” indefinitely. An image no longer gets stuck there
Improvements
- Decks open with a progress count (macOS): When a deck’s cards are in iCloud only, the Card Editor shows how many have arrived (“Downloading 3 of 21 cards from iCloud…”) and opens the deck once they are on your Mac. If iCloud can’t be reached, a notice says that some cards may be unavailable until the connection is back
- Previews kept on your Mac (macOS): Card previews and deck backgrounds of an iCloud library are saved on your Mac the first time you see them, so they appear at once from then on, even offline and after macOS offloads the originals
- A clear wait at launch (macOS): If your library takes a moment to open, the window says “Opening your library…” and counts the decks as they load, instead of a spinning cursor and no window
- Paste from other apps (macOS): Plain text pasted with right-click > Paste now becomes one paragraph per line, as with ⌘V, and text that looks like web code stays text. Styling SuperCards can’t keep, such as some website fonts and color formats, is left out when you paste instead of disappearing the next time you open the card
- Right-click in a text box (macOS): The text menu appears whenever you are typing in a text box, even with nothing selected, and right-clicking a word acts on that word. An image copied in Safari and pasted while you type in a text box goes on the card as an image, not as its web address
- Windows recover by themselves (macOS): If a window’s contents crash and leave it blank, the app reloads that window
Technical Updates
- SuperCards now requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later
- Startup runs off the main thread and builds the library index from file information alone, so a launch opens no card file. The app keeps a small record of each deck on your Mac, so a launch also skips any deck file that hasn’t changed since it was last read
- Library images are served by the app’s own image handler, off the main thread
- The file watcher ignores files that iCloud offloads or downloads, and can’t download anything itself
- Everything you paste or drop into a text box now passes the same checks as a card loaded from disk
- Dependency updates, including
prosemirror-view1.42.6 for a security advisory about pasted content, and updated Rust crates (rustls, lopdf and others) - The app keeps a log file in
~/Library/Logs/that stays on your Mac, to help diagnose problems you report
