Introduction
SuperCards ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the SuperCards desktop application for macOS and mobile application for iOS (collectively, the "Apps").
The short version: SuperCards is designed with privacy at its core. Your flashcards and study data stay on your devices. We don't collect, transmit, or store your personal content.
Information We Do NOT Collect
SuperCards is a local-first application. This means:
- ✓ Your flashcard content (text, images, decks) is stored only on your device
- ✓ Your study sessions are not tracked or transmitted
- ✓ No user accounts are required to use the Apps
- ✓ No cloud sync is currently implemented
- ✓ No analytics or tracking software is included in the Apps
- ✓ No advertising is displayed
We do not have access to the content you create in SuperCards.
Information That Stays on Your Device
The following data is created and stored locally on your device:

When you export your library to transfer between desktop and mobile, the exported JSON file is saved to a location you choose. We do not receive or process this file.
Information We May Collect
Crash Reports (Optional)
If you choose to submit a bug report or feedback:
- You may voluntarily include device information (e.g., "MacBook Pro M2, macOS 14.2")
- You may voluntarily include screenshots or descriptions of issues
- You may voluntarily provide your email address for follow-up
This information is only collected when you actively submit it through our feedback channels.
TestFlight (iOS Beta)
During the beta period, the iOS app is distributed through Apple's TestFlight. Apple may collect:
- App usage statistics
- Crash logs
- Device information
This data is collected by Apple according to their privacy practices. Please review Apple's Privacy Policy for details.
Website Analytics (Future)
Our website at supercards.io may implement privacy-focused analytics in the future. If implemented, we will update this policy. We will never use invasive tracking or sell data to third parties.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties.
The only scenarios where data might be shared:
- By your action: When you export and share your deck files with others
- Legal requirement: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority
- Business transfer: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice to users)
Data Security
Since your data is stored locally on your device:
- Your device's security measures (encryption, passcode, biometrics) protect your data
- We recommend keeping your devices updated with the latest security patches
- We recommend backing up your exported JSON files in a secure location
Children's Privacy
SuperCards is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information through our feedback channels, please contact us so we can delete it.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: You have full access to all your data—it's on your device
- Deletion: You can delete the Apps and all associated data at any time
- Export: You can export all your data using the built-in export feature
- Correction: You can edit any of your content directly in the Apps
Since we don't collect or store your data on our servers, most data rights are automatically fulfilled by the local-first design.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
Significant changes (such as the introduction of cloud sync or user accounts) will be communicated through:
- In-app notifications
- Our website
- Email (if you've provided one)
Future Features
We plan to introduce cloud sync and user accounts in a future version (v1.0+). When implemented:
- This Privacy Policy will be updated before those features launch
- You will be informed of what data will be collected and how it will be used
- Cloud features will be opt-in, and local-only usage will remain available
