Version 0.7.9
Drag thumbnails to reorder cards in the Card Editor • Moving a card asks about unsaved changes • Your own files survive a switch to or from iCloud
0.7.9 · macOS
On 0.7.8 with Install updates automatically on, this is the first update that installs by itself: it starts the next time SuperCards opens. On 0.7.7 or earlier, click Restart to Update.
New Features
- Reorder cards from the Card Editor (macOS): Drag a thumbnail in the Card Editor’s strip to move that card within the deck. The other thumbnails slide aside to show where it will land, the strip scrolls when you drag near either end, and Escape cancels. It’s the same reorder as dragging cards in Card Controls, so the new order shows everywhere the deck does. Brain Dump lists its cards newest first, so they can’t be reordered there, and if a deck’s card order hasn’t arrived from iCloud yet, the strip says so instead of moving anything
Bug Fixes
- Moving a card asks about unsaved changes (macOS): Moving a card to another deck from Card Controls, or assigning it to a deck from Brain Dump, while it had unsaved changes in the Card Editor dropped those changes without a word. SuperCards now asks first: Save keeps your changes and moves the card, Don’t Save moves it as last saved, and Cancel leaves everything as it was
- Your files in the SuperCards folder are kept (macOS): Switching your library between this Mac and iCloud permanently deleted files of your own in the destination’s SuperCards folder, such as a
.supercardsdeck file you’d saved there, without moving them to the Trash. Files and folders that aren’t decks are now left alone, and the ones in the library you’re switching from still come along. Inside decks, a switch still makes both sides match - One copy of SuperCards at a time (macOS): Opening SuperCards while it was already running could, in some cases (a second copy of the app in another folder, for example), start a second app on the same library, with its own windows and menu bar icon. A second launch now brings the running app forward and exits
- Dark and light theme fixes (macOS): The deck icon on the Create Your First Deck button is visible in dark mode, and the example prompt on Home is readable in light mode
Improvements
- The strip stays where you left it (macOS): Reordering cards, in the strip or in Card Controls, no longer scrolls the Card Editor’s strip back to the open card
Technical Updates
- A lock file in SuperCards’ Application Support folder tells a new launch whether a copy is already running. The lock is released however the app exits, a crash included
- The strip’s drag tracks the pointer itself instead of using the system’s drag and drop, so a drag can’t drop anything into a text box being edited
- A library switch removes stale files only inside folders that are decks
