This glossary explains common SuperCards terminology.
Brain Dump
The Brain Dump is the desktop app's home for Quick Cards — cards you've captured but haven't assigned to a deck yet.
Card
A Card is a double-sided document containing text, images, code, or math. Used synonymously with notecard, flashcard, and index card.
Card Controls
Card Controls is the desktop app's view for managing the cards inside a deck — reordering, moving, duplicating, and deleting.
Card Editor
The Card Editor is the desktop app's window for creating and editing cards. It opens in Quick Card Mode or Deck Mode.
Card Face
A Card Face is one side of a card. Every card has two.
Deck
A Deck is an ordered collection of cards.
Deck File (.supercards)
A single file containing a complete deck — cards, images, and all. Deck files are how decks travel between people and tools; opening one routes it to the Import Inbox.
Import Inbox
The desktop app's staging area for incoming decks. Every deck arriving from outside the app — AI-generated, shared, or imported — waits here for your review before anything enters your Library.
Library
The Library is where you browse and manage your decks: on the desktop app for organizing and editing, and on the iOS app for choosing what to study.
Quick Card
A Quick Card is a card that hasn't been assigned to a Deck. Quick Cards live in the Brain Dump.
Study Mode
Study Mode is the iOS app's full-screen, landscape review experience — flip, swipe, and toss your way through a deck.
SuperCards Exchange Format (SEF)
SEF is the documented JSON format that lets AI assistants and other tools create complete decks that import natively.

Toss
A Study Mode gesture: flick a card diagonally to clear it from the session once you've mastered it. Shake your phone to undo.
